Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If my child completes about 80% of the admission applications, what about the other 20%?
A. Not everything can be completed in advance. Once the college applications officially open, they can complete the other 20%. In my class, I teach students the other 20% of the requirements and how to prepare.
Q. Can my child attend only one day of this boot camp?
A. No. Your child must attend both days to receive the full benefit. No refunds will be made if your child doesn't attend, but they will receive all of the handouts and resources.
Q. Does this replace 1-on-1 college counseling?
A. No. This session is interactive lecture-style with group work. During class and workshop, I will go around to each student and provide some individual help with questions on their applications, student resumes, and essays, but this does not replace individual coaching for the student's holistic situation.
Q. Does my child need to know all the schools they are applying to before this class?
A. No. While it is helpful for your child to know at least a few schools they want to apply to, this class helps them regardless of where their school list is during the boot camp.
Just to let you know, while we will discuss how to determine if a college is a good fit or not, this class does NOT provide personal college suggestions. If you are interested in individualized 1-on-1 services, I offer packages to help you with your college planning needs.
Q. What does my child need to bring to this class?
A. Once you purchase your child's ticket, you will receive a welcome email with a list of the curriculum and full list of what to bring. A couple of important items will be a laptop or tablet, charger, journal or notepad, pens. Water and light snacks will be provided.
Q. Can parents attend this boot camp as well?
A. This is a student-only event. Parents will have access to all of the downloadable worksheets and resources. Parents may contact the presenter, Jackie Postelnick, with questions before or after the class.
